Boron Isotopic Analysis

The following rates are for Laboratory Services ( See NOTES below 1-6):

Billing Category

Measurement of the 11B/10B isotopic ratio using Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry (TIMS).  Process includes ion exchange column extraction, distillation, use of HEPA environment, with results reported as the ratio and d11B corrected with respect to the NIST standard-   RATE $200
Measurement of the boron concentration using ICPMS.- RATE  $30
Filtering of samples as requested by Client.- RATE  $10

NOTES:

  1. The sample fee is not charged if the analysis fails; however, a processing fee of $50.00 is charged to cover laboratory time and materials for samples that fail to yield reliable results under specific circumstances. These include the following: 1) the sample has low boron concentration, generally less than 50 mg/L and the sample volume is low yielding less than 50 mg of boron mass, or 2) the sample required filtering in the laboratory to remove sediment or precipitate.

  2. Rates exclude shipping expenses, which are charged at actual cost with no overhead fee. Coolers are returned to sender if requested and billed at the FedEx ground rate.

  3. Samples are retained for one month then discarded unless instructed otherwise.

  4. Final results are forwarded to the Client by email and hard copy of the final report is mailed. Published journal articles are available upon request.

  5. Detailed interpretation of isotopic results can be provide by personnel of the Geochemical Technologies Consulting Firm; a consulting rate schedule is available upon request.

  6. Client should expect a reasonable turnaround time based on the number of samples submitted, generally within 60 days of receipt.
